It is amazing how peaceful and beautiful it is today, while we await a massive storm. The streets are empty and many homes are boarded up in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Florence. The mandatory evacuation was effective this morning at 8:00am. After leaving the island, no one can return without showing proof of residency.
It is discouraging to leave your home and belongings, not knowing if they will be there when you return. Yet safety has to be the main priority. I gathered as many of my favorite items as possible. However, the most valuable items were my cherished pictures, important documents, clothes, my son’s favorite toys (a bundle of stuffed penguins and legos), my dog, and my cat. ❤️
I am sending best wishes and positive vibes to everyone preparing for Hurricane Florence. Here’s to knowing that things always work out, and not only surviving but thriving… 🌈
Last night my 9 year-old son, Gage, and I watched a baby sea turtle guided into the ocean on Topsail Beach. 😍 I’m sending a special thank you the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and their volunteers for all the care given to sea turtles. Below is the link to their website and pictures of the baby sea turtle.

A beautiful ending to a lovely Labor Day Weekend on Topsail Island.
After the rain… on Topsail Beach, NC
Look at these gorgeous sandcastles! I walk along Topsail Beach nearly every day but I have never seen such detailed and elaborate sandcastles. I imagine it took several fun-filled hours to create these beauties. I am sending a special “Thank You,” to Joe and Susan Campbell (and their two children)! Thank you for letting me photograph and share your works of art made with love on Topsail Beach! The Campbell family resides in Atlanta, Georgia and frequently visits Topsail Beach.
Happy Fourth of July from Topsail Island, North Carolina! 😀🇺🇸 #topsaillife
